But don't expect all the bells and whistles of the big hotels. The Trop is in the midst of a major renovation. Pool area was closed during our visit although in Feb that is not a big deal. Many of the staff are older 40+, that is a good sign, loyal employees, probably been with them awhile.\n\nPros\n- Older therefore smaller, easy to get around\n- 3 restaurant options\n- renovated rooms, plantation shutters, clean and bright\n- older hotel = bigger guest rooms\n- Housekeeping was great, staff friendly and helpful\n- great deals on rooms (although be sure you get an updated room).\n- One small gift shop, there are enough malls in Vegas as it is!\n - no mini bar in the room (a plus in my opinion)\n- Good location across from MGM, \n\nCons\n- Older, smaller, so entertainment options on site are limited\n- Beware of adjoining rooms, you can hear your neighbors!\n- If you are into a big hotel experience this is not your place\n- We called at 9am day of arrival and we were told early check in would not be a problem, when we arrived at 1:30 had a 2 hour wait (30 minutes past the stated checkin time) despite the fact that the place was very quiet and occupancy previous night was around 65%, response 'we have a 1000 rooms to clean', well I guess they knew that 5 hours earlier.\n- Rooms facing MGM have traffic noisy, not sure about Mandalay Bay side"^^ .
