And our server was great, he flawlessly waited on our party of seven's need with just the right balance of attentiveness and subtlety.\n\nFor our group, our server suggested two \"tower\" appetizers: (4) spicy shrimp lettuce wraps, sweet and sour fried calamari, and 3 crab cakes. We also ordered a variety of local beers and a dozen raw oysters (half east coast, half west coast). I don't care much for beer or oysters to judge (I suck), but the rest of the party raved about both. However, the \"tower\" appetizers were fantastic! Although the calamari wasn't my favorite, I LOVED the wraps, reminiscent of bang bang shrimp in perfect little iceberg lettuce boats and topped with a deliciously sweet-spicy fruit salsa (I ate two, everyone else only got one). The calamari was okay, but the crab cakes were wonderful - very little if any fillers, I just tasted pure, delicate crab with a light, barely-there crispy crust.\n\nOur entrees varied. Most of the selections have an Asian fusion, which isn't bad but I might have liked to seen a little more flavor diversity. I was craving scallops and ordered the Pan Seared Scallops. The three scallops were some of the plumpest, most succulent and perfectly cooked that I have ever had. However, at the risk of sounding like a complete country bumpkin, the rest of the dish was a complete and disappointing disaster that utterly failed the perfect scallops. Weird, twiggy rijad's mushrooms and way too many of them (TWO piles of those things, posed at opposite ends of the plate like mini pyres waiting to be lit). They were freaky, weird, dry and wholly unappetizing. I didn't like any of the sides or accoutrement (English peas, white asparagus, beet vinaigrette or fennel pur\u00E9e) - they seemed almost a tongue-in-cheek mockery of fancy foods...except the dish was meant to be taken in all seriousness. So, despite the fabulous scallops, so not worth the price.\n\nThe rest of the group loved their entrees, varying from huge and flavorful sushi rolls (I sampled a few and they were delicious; I wish I would have ordered sushi instead), to buttery, saucy whitefish dinners. We were too stuffed for dessert, but I and another guy had cappuccinos, which were delicious and speckled with freshly grated nutmeg.\n\nThe final bill was high (trust this country bumpkin when she says this place ain't cheap), but not unreasonable for most of what we ordered, and the service was impeccable. However, if I ever make it this way again to Charlotte, I would definitely get a sushi roll and an appetizer, which would make a very reasonable-priced and filling dinner."^^ .
