I've worked with a variety of lovely, talented colorists across the country and unfortunately, my last experience w/ Kristen at 90 Degree Salon was awful. :(\n\nI had been to her a couple of times prior and received decent service. The major bonus w/ her is that she has great availability and flexibility in schedule which is quite helpful. I typically frequent Fresh Salon but my fav colorist was booked a month out and I needed color sooner than later for an event. I can now say that I have definitely learned my lesson about being impatient when it comes to hair and will NEVER make this expensive mistake again! lol\n\nI went in with my natural blonde hair with the goal to transition to dark brown w/ subtle chestnut lowlights for the winter season. I have done this before and appreciate the process typically takes 2 visits to achieve the desired results in order to preserve the quality of my hair. I brought in a pic and explained what I wanted and she said she understood and could do that. However, I kid you not, I walked out of there w/ atrocious dark purple hued hair and bright orange highlights. It was scary. \n\nAs far as the details- she put the color on me in addition to the lowlights, and left me w/out coming back once....for 30 min. I appreciate color has to sit that long, but she left me in the back at the washing stations and never checked on me. Every other salon I've frequented I've sat in a comfortable chair typically near the dryers and was always asked if I needed anything given the extended amount of time I'd be \"cooking\" lol. I got zilch here! I stood up and saw that she had gone off and was working on another client's hair. I respect her desire to work hard and multi-task but it's standard to check on a client @ least 1x. She eventually came back, opened up my foils and went, \"ok so we need to put a toner on to take down these lowlights.\" Awkward!\nShe put the toner in, rinsed everything out, and my hair looked heinous-it was dark with purple-ish hues with brazen orange lowlights-and this was AFTER the toner!\nNeedless to say, she also ruined my earrings in the process. I expressly asked her if she would like me to remove them prior to starting the color, and she responded nope, it won't be a problem. I should have used my better judgment and just removed them but I did not and they were speckled in brown dye. They weren't expensive but I adored them. She took $10 off the bill.\n\nShe blew out my hair and she always does that well. However, it came time for the bill and this was the kicker- Prior to our appt she said that she could give me a discounted rate as I'd been a customer of hers before and I explained that I wasn't working at the moment. I never saw that discount. She charged $120 just for the botched color and that was w/ the $10 off for the earrings... I was appalled. Needless to say, I accepted it as a hard lesson learned, paid and tipped, and left. I urge anyone going to this salon that I have seen some lovely work from other stylists and please don't write this place off entirely, but I would be weary of Kristen. She did not honor her discount she promised, ruined my earrings, and ruined my hair. I had to go back to Fresh Salon (my original salon) and have color correction 2x....I've spent several hundred dollars to rectify her disaster w/out ruining my hair in the process. It's all worked out in the end because I've found a new colorist Jennifer @ Fresh who is talented, has a flexible schedule, and actually cares about my hair!"^^ . . "28"^^ .
