My truck fell flat on it's face on the way home the other day. It's been well cared for and has over 194000 miles. It's only broken down on me twice once with a bad distributor and the other with a bad fuel pump. I had been to Art's before and was treated well and they were on the way home so I limped the poorly running, misfiring truck and left it telling them that I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the distributor as it has behaved similarly before. They took an extra day to even look at it. Didn't heed a word I said, removed, cleaned, and re-gapped the plugs (for $180) and put the blame on the mass air flow sensor which they would happily replace for $350. I knew this was highway robbery so I told them I would do it myself - which I did for $60 and 10 minutes of my time. When this didn't fix the problem I called Car Doctor and they came out - listened to me (unlike Art's) and verified that the problem was with the distributor (took him about the same amount of time to replace it as it did for me to run to the neighborhood parts store to get it - about 20 minutes). I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Overcharging, finagling, pot-shooting in the dark, and deaf shops do not deserve recommendation. They lied to me when they said they checked the distributor they were condescending and patronizing when I tried to tell them the likely problem and they overcharged me to pull, clean and re-gap 6 spark plugs at $30 a pop...
