First of all I do most of my shopping at Avril, Brossard. Looking at the prior reviews, I can say that Avril is far bigger than Tau Brossard. And, I also don't really think Tau is that similar to Whole Foods. It's more of a boutique operation. In any case, they have a small-ish produce department and a miniscule prepared foods department. Many snack options in the way of dried fruits and nuts++. Quite a large non-perishable and frozen department, and a large selection of supplements.
I think that the two stores Tau and Avril Brossard don't have that much overlap. But I favor the latter just because it is bigger.
Their loose leaf tea selection is quite good and it used to be what brought me back - bulk rooibos from Cle des Champs which is now discontinued.
Anyways, going back to the large selection of supplements, what annoys me so much in Quebec, relative to the United States is that customer service is often terrible.
So I called and talked to the lady in the supplements department, who had no interest in my questions or in being helpful. Then after I explained exactly what I was looking, ingredient by ingredient -- she refused to make any effort to recommend a similar product. Obviously, she didn't know her product lines. Said she had customers and I had to come in. I said my husband was on the way over and could she put me on hold...and she hung up on me.
I will say that staffers have been nice in person but still, this is unacceptable. What is prompting my review is that I called Avril and go the same thing - horrible telephone customer service.
Anyways, I have placed an order with a store in the United States where I can get better selection, better pricing, everything online and almost always fantastic telephone customer service. Too bad about the duty, QC tax and waiting... I can't get complimentary 2nd day air from the US to Canada.
