I will remember
The winter evenings
Trodding through the slush into your dark doorway;
The Bobbies,
Warm in their soft, white paper.
The call-aheads from work,
The person bearing the plastic bag of wrapped wonders,
Unrolling them eagerly on our desks.
I lay my flower here
On this the grave of what was once
The Greatest Sandwich Shop.
I will not forget.
