This dental clinic is as shaddy as a pop-up mechanics shop. Despite a fee guide in the province of Alberta, this office chooses to charge its own outrageous rates (and yes, it's the right to do so, just as it is for any other dental office). My beef is with the fact that the most commonly used insurance provider is Alberta Blue Cross by a large margin. Therefore in getting an estimate prior to a regular check-up and cleaning, they will quote $X as the amount you will co-pay. However, when you go to check out, the amount outstanding (despite the insurance coverage) jumps to over 4x what you were originally quoted. And no, there were no "complications" or "additional work" done. This was simply for a check-up and cleaning. Bottom line is, this dishonest office should be avoided so that you don't get "sticker shock". Lesson learned: get your estimate done on and on paper -- the so called "verbal agreement" is worthless. I should also point out their up-sell tactics. Reminds me of shopping at shitty department stores where they constantly try to add on additional unnecessary services. Rather pathetic and reflects the whole "money grab" nature of this operation. Just avoid this place. Your wallet will thank you.
