I was involved in a very serious accident on Jan 22, 2018. Their tow trucks arrived on the scene very quickly and because my Ford F-150 was in the middle of an intersection I had no choice but to tow it with their company to get it out of the way of traffic. After a lengthy ordeal, we arrived at Green Star Auto Collision and my partner and I had informed the associates that this was our first time being involved in a serious accident so we were not fully aware of the steps that should be taken. They assured us not to worry and told us they "recommended" we leave our truck in their shop and wait for our insurance company to send their appraisers because insurance companies usually want to move the vehicle to preferred shops of their choice in order to pay a lower price for storage and repair costs. We kept going back and forth over the phone with the insurance company and the associates. Initially, my partner had decided to move the truck to our insurance companies preferred shop but the manager told us to forgo our decision and leave the truck in their hands - he was very adamant about this. At this point we were tired and we just wanted to move on with our day so we decided to leave the truck at Greenstar. The associates had us sign papers very quickly and barely gave us a chance to read the documents, almost as if they did not want us to read any of the fine print. They provided us with our rental car and assured us everything would work out well. I knew from the moment the truck had gotten into the accident that it was probably a write-off. After getting in touch with our claim adjuster, there was serious miscommunication between our insurance company and Greenstar Auto. They were not being clear with us or our insurance company whatsoever!!! They had actually gotten my partner to sign a document that would initiate repairs immediately if the truck was assessed to be repairable. My partner had to call Greenstar and argued with them over the phone and blatantly told them we did not want any sort of repairs done without our consent or without being informed of the initial appraisals that had been done. An appraiser had actually arrived very promptly the next week but had been sent back because apparently, we had not signed all the required documents, when in fact we did - so you can imagine our frustration. I am currently expecting and I was pregnant at the time of the accident, so you can imagine the level of stress this was giving both my partner and I. After the appraisal, our insurance company informed us that the truck was repairable. I was pretty shocked to be honest. After doing some research, we decided to release our truck and hand it over to European Auto Body shop which is a preferred shop under our insurance company that is very highly rated and reviewed and specializes in Ford repairs. Greenstar Auto kept our truck for a total of 29 days, kept informing us how "stupid" our insurance company was, and miscommunicated with us in many different instances. If you ask me, they were not being honest and they kept our truck at their facility in order to make more money from storage costs that our insurance company was liable for. European Auto Body informed us that the truck was most definitely a write-off and the damage would exceed the value of the truck. After waiting for a whole month you would think Greenstar Auto would be honest and inform us of this and communicate with our insurance company in a more appropriate and timely manner. I do not recommend going to this shop unless you want to waste your time and your money and deal with dishonest associates that do not have your best interests at heart.
