A monopoly that knows it, and acts like it. We had rental agreement where tenants agreed to pay utilities and apparently missed this one (intentionally or not, who knows) . Nonetheless, Southwest Gas cut the service and requires a $300 deposit to turn it back on. In Phoenix, the home's average gas bill is about $50/month. The company's own policy says the deposit "should not exceed 1.5 times avg monthly bill." They are extremely hard to reach (hours are 8-4, m-f), and of absolutely no help when finally contacted. Worst company I've dealt with ever. Real shame there are no options other than electric only.
