I've had two superb experiences at Hot Rod and one not so good. This place is very professional and clean. They're not the cheapest piercing place in the city but for me it's worth paying slightly more for a place you trust.
The last time I was there, I inquired about a particular piercing and the counter dude had an attitude like he just didn't want to be bothered with me. He said the piercer hadn't arrived yet (it was just after they opened), so that gave me an excuse to leave and not come back. I'm writing this off as an isolated incident since I've not heard a lot of bad stories about Hot Rod.
