I've heard many good things about Apis Mead & Winery, but only recently ventured to Carnegie's Main Street to try it for myself. On an early Friday evening, a lot of the tables were available when we arrived, but open seating slowly became harder to come by as the night progressed. The laid back atmosphere and collection of board games, card games, and books definitely allows for a low-key place to enjoy a bottle or two (or more). Though, I imagine the place can get pretty busy on a Friday night. After taste testing a few different meads, our group opted for the Hopped Passion Fruit. It became one of my favorites from the sampling and I would definitely recommend giving it a try. However, I suggest starting with a flight of meads if it's your first time. That's what I wish I had done. Couple our bottle of mead with an informative game of trivial pursuit and we had ourselves a good time!
