I happened upon AMSC when my beloved elderly cat was diagnosed with diabetes right before an international trip I had planned and I couldn't find anyone who would agree to give him insulin and his other meds on such short notice. My vet recommended that he could be medically boarded there. After a good experience (albeit more expensive than I planned as I was not quoted the ICU cost but rather the simple daily cat condo cost despite stating that he would need medicine), I returned to AMSC when Chuey became quite ill with hypoglycemia, renal failure etc. My regular vet felt that he needed to be watched overnight and we arranged for transfer to AMSC. I have since switched his care to this facility. Yes, they are expensive. They have the finest vet care available in the state: anything you want or might need is here. The medical care that is available is superb and the explanations of his medical problems and treatment are quite detailed and I feel its worth it. I felt that my former vet, as nice as she was, wasn't quite sure what was wrong with my pet and that made me uncomfortable. She also simply didn't have the advantage of overnight services, weekend hours and now they're open until 11 pm for emergencies. The staff and doctors keep me informed about his care and assisted me in decision making about that care. Sometimes you need an expert to tell you whether what you're doing is the right thing and whether you should keep on going. The facility is beautiful (if you care about that) and is clean and fresh smelling (most important to me). There is easy access from the 101 and ample parking in the lot. The staff all greet my pet by name and have wonderful things to say about him which pleases me. I've had the chance to converse with all the veterinarians in the practice and been impressed all around. Dr Lubold has the most experience with my pet and I feel very confident in his care and appreciate his kind attention to my pet (and my fears).
