When we first saw this place, it looked like everything we were looking for. In house washer/dryer, new carpeting, dog friendly, nice neighborhood with plenty of quality stores close by, near freeways, quaint and with a nice fountain (hence the name) in the courtyard. The landlord was friendly and amenable and even told us to write down any flaws we discovered within the first 30 days of habitation.
So we did. And the list grew and grew. As we began living there, two major storms passed by and we soon found out how leaky this boat was. The rain gutter, which hadn't been cleaned in a while, sent water down into the tracks of the sliding glass doors, filling them up with water sending it over the sides and onto the carpet. We spent most of our time switching out towels so the water wouldn't spread to the furniture. Since the time frame for getting things fixed is questionable, I'll be doing what I can until it is.
A plumber came by the other day to switch the hot and cold water around and fix a plug that was broken. There is a rattle in one of the AC/Heater vents that we are told is due to the AC being old. But why is the rattle only in that vent?
Using my handyman skills, I found that it was small stones being blown about. I removed them and no more rattle. Everything has been fixed, and this is a cute little place to live. Meantime, should I send a bill for my services?
UPDATE: Everything eventually got fixed and Sean, our landlord, is a sweetheart of a guy getting to everyone's problems as quickly as he can. He has multiple locations he's in charge of and some may have had more severe problems.
Anyway, it's winter and we're snug as a bug in a rug and aside from a studio apt., this place is full.
Studio gone. 100% occupancy and the neighbors are affable.
