Sun Valley Animal Shelter helps provide a need for those shady puppy/kitten mills. I have had pets for most of my 40+ years and have never had any issues with my furry friends. My 19 year old daughter decided she wanted a pet of her own and we of course choose to rescue instead of purchase. Upon arrival we were greeted by an ill-mannered older woman and a kind gentleman. We were given directions to visit with the cats and decide which one we wanted to adopt, we would then fill out an application and have an interview with an adoption counselor. The entire process took 2 hours and we left empty handed. We were told that because we might be moving in 18 months, because I travel in an RV (without my pets by the way), and we don't have a personality that "is a good fit" for any of the cats we were denied an adoption. They then gave me a list of other places to adopt who have "more relaxed standards". I'm an adult, my daughter is an adult, we were stunned by the ridiculousness of this situation but can you imagine a child being told they are not good enough for a furry friend that someone else threw away?
