Without any doubt in my mind, at 57 years of age this is this most dishonest marine repair shop, or business for that matter I have ever dealt with. I've also been a business owner in this town for close to 30 years and have dealt both personally and professionally with hundreds of businesses. In March of this year (2016) i bought a 1997 SeaRay 330 from a seller who had the boat at this shop to replace a transmission while he was selling it. Without going into 5 months of details, suffice to say that I contracted to do over $10,000 worth of service, upgrades and a few repairs. After some 5 months of being promised it would be done in a week the boat was finally delivered to an outside detail shop. Once it was there I began looking closely at the work that was done as I began installing additional satillite and stereo systems. As it turned out, and to this day in November, pretty much everything that they charged and collected for was either not done, or ruined and had to be re-done or replaced. As I began calling them in the following weeks telling them what I was finding, and starting to talk about hiring an attorney and going after their business license they promptly refunded nearly $5,000. The remainder of what I paid was for $3,000 of bottom paint and gel coat repairs which were needed. This was done by an outside contractor and done well. The other $2,000 was for a complete annual inspection for both engines and a generator as well as a thorough check of all the electrical and plumbing systems, etc. I wanted the boat in it's best possible condition and while I knew their prices were high I agreed to pay without ever a question. The boat was delivered to detail with dead batteries, a badly oil stained top which had to be replaced, Satillite television wiring which was not only not replaced as agreed but mis-wired and had to be completely re-wired, little or none of the service work that was quoted was complete and a host of other things. Basically anything they had their hands on was either wrong, or just not done at all. The day they delivered the boat to their family owned marina, Las Vegas Boat Harbor, I was told by their head mechanic that there was a problem with a battery but to go ahead and take the boat to Callville as it "should be OK". I started out to Callville and within an hour lost half of the batteries I had just replaced myself while at detail. Thankfully I limped into Callville on one engine. I asked for some help from Callvilles mechanics and the next day we found that the battery charger needed to be replaced. Im not complaining about having to replace things on a 20 year old boat but not the hour I picked it up and after paying them over $2,000 to make sure the boat was safe and all systems were go and nearly getting stranded on the lake. As time went by I found a lot of general use and service items that needed to be repaired or replaced that should have been noticed in their service inspection. Today while checking other things we found the power steering had zero fluid and the trim tabs were low too, all normal service items. Im especially surprised because the family that owns this company as well as Las Vegas Marina and Las Vegas Boat Harbor have owned them for several decades and are well respected. I can't believe they would be happy if they knew this type of thing was going on. I have friends who slip their boats at those facilities and I hear nothing but bad stories about anything that has to do with maintenance between the boat harbor or Marine Center of Las Vegas. Worst (8 month) experience of my life.
