I walked in expecting to buy a cheap used phone ($100), because the GPS on my old phone was dying. The guy at the desk offered to try to fix it for free. He couldn't, but he diagnosed the problem and suggested a $10 fix, using a part a store down the road had.
It's not often that a repairman tries to help you for free when you want to spend $100, and then refers you to someone else for a $10 fix when he can't do it for free.
