One of my favorite gift shops ever.
Paper Skyscraper has a surprisingly large selection of books, jewelry & accessories, greeting cards & gift wrap, home goods, and even gag gifts (like one of my recent faves, a desktop plaque reading "SUCK LESS, thanks"). You can also find David French paintings and prints (plus other Charlotte art and souvenirs), children's toys, and sweets here, among other things. There's a pretty big variety of price points, too.
It's a fun place to browse while you're waiting for takeout from next door (but your food will be ready LONG before you're ready to stop browsing), or the perfect place to grab a hostess gift on your way to a party, or a one-stop shop to take care of your holiday shopping.
Bonus: the shop dog, Patsy, is possibly the cutest shop dog in all of Charlotte.
