Start them young!
I didn't know what to expect from the Heart Museum. Animal hearts in jars? We made an appointment for our group tour. Call first to make sure there are no school field trips going on! It was jam packed full of children when we got there. We stepped aside to make room for the stampede!
At last, it was just our group. The kind tour guide led us, no heart jars, to the heart replicas of animals with heartbeats even! The children were fascinated by them. "Is that real blood?", my son asked pointing to a gallon glass jar full of red liquid. "What happens when your heart stops beating?" he wondered. There was a "Marketplace" of make believe rubber food. The children participated in an educational and interactive game to help them understand the importance of good eating habits. I was more fascinated by how the rubber lettuce, bread and piece of chicken looked so real. Then off we went to see a movie about taking good care of your own heart. Set aside about an hour and a half if you do the tour. A self guided tour would last at least 2 hours.
As we were leaving, we saw a group of senior citizens right behind us! It's not just for kids, I guess.
My son loved this museum. We will be back!
