If you read any of my other reviews, you'll note that I don't give bad ones lightly. I just don't feel the "OMG, the ECHO!" feeling for this place that some do. I never frequented this place when I lived in Madison, but I went to the Echo on Saturday with some friends who did. The Echo Tap smelled like butt cheeks. It really and truly did. I thank my lucky stars that I had forgotten to close my tab at the last bar so I had an excuse to dip out and meet up with them at the next stop. If this dive didn't smell, it would have been a perfectly acceptable Wisconsin townie bar, but it did and I just can't recommend it (unless you have a cold).
