I initially contacted Jim from Renaissance Pools several weeks ago regarding my new home build and my hopes of an immediate start to installing a pool. I am out of state and hoped to do all of the preliminary work including pricing prior to my home closing in a couple of weeks. I did know which fiberglass model that I wanted. However, Jim was only interested in getting me in their building before providing pricing. I told him that this was not possible as I was from the east coast and would not be there for a few weeks. I was able to provide them with a plot plan and size of the rear of the property, so it seems like a preliminary price should be available. This was not the case. Each time that I asked for pricing. I was met with "we have several of the models that you are looking for and need to pick one out". To me, this sounds like BS! As a business owner, I do know how much things cost related to my business. I believe that he does also. The good part of this it has led me into looking for options other than Renaissance. I do believe that since they are so difficult to deal with at a "pre-buy" stage, I would have more issues with the build stage. I did fine 2 other gunite contractors that were more than willing to work with me at this stage. I did end up finalizing with Steve Breck Pools. He answered all of my questions and provided a price within our budget. Even though we have not closed on the home and will not do so for another 3 weeks, he started all of our paperwork with our HOA and City for permits. We even have a start date and 45 day build time. After reading their Yelp reviews, I knew this was a good choice. Thanks Renaissance for being so difficult to deal with. It worked out for me!
