I had all four wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Smiga and was extremely happy with the procedure. On my initial visit, I was seen right away by the doctor who took a look at me, discussed the procedure, went through the risks involved and discussed the sedation options. Since I get a lot of the dental anxiety; I went for the option of "going to sleep" aka general anesthesia. On the day of the procedure, I was pretty nervous. I was taken back right away again and was first introduced to the nurse anesthetist, who was tremendous. He made me feel so at ease; explained what would happen with my anesthesia in detail and that I would be given intravenous sedatives right away to "take the edge off." He was right. I felt relaxed and don't remember falling asleep or any of the procedure. I woke up next to my mom with a blanket feeling I had just had the best sleep of my life. When I got home; I started noticing that my lips, tongue and chin were all completely numb. While it felt weird and made drinking difficult, it was expertly administered and did a really good job of Eliminating post op pain for almost 10 hours. I felt almost not pain whatsoever. All and all it was a great experience in which I felt I was in terrific hands the whole way.
