This was my 2nd year at the Ren Fest and we all had a great time. Last year we went opening weekend and took advantage of the 2 for 1 ticket prices, but this year it didn't work out so we went this past Sunday. We spent almost the whole day there so I would say we got our $19 worth! Once we had our whole group together we decided we needed something to eat and so a stop for crepes/waffles was in order. I went simple with a nutella crepe and my sisters each did the banana, nutella and whipped cream, one with a crepe the other a waffle. Everything was good and I thought cheap at $3. My 3 y/o nephew has been obsessed w/elephants ever since he rode Judy at the festival last year, so upon his insistence we tried to make that our 1st stop. Judy just went on an hour break though so the boys settled for the camel ride on Magoo! To kill time we went to the petting soo, watched the jousting and at 12 got some Medieval Margaritas, watched some acrobats and finally it was time to see Judy. I honestly thought the kid would combust if he didn't get on that line to wait his turn, he was soooo excited! Once the Judy craving was taken care of we watched a pirate show, the nephews threw tomatoes at the heckler, they went through a maze, went on a pirate ship and so on. We all got different stuff for lunch. There was a turkey leg, sausage on a stick, grilled portobello, fried mac n cheese on a stick, corn maybe and chicken fingers and french fries. I honestly think there prices are extremely reasonable for a fair environment. The Med Margs were $4, beers were $4-5, food all ranged from $3-5. You won't get things that cheap at a state fair or local carnival. After we watched the London Broil show, they were comedic jugglers and honestly hysterical! Followed-up with the Ded Bob ventriloquist show, again funny. I also decided I needed a caramel apple and the 3 y/o wanted one too, even though the poor kid could barely eat it (his dad ate 3/4 of it!) and I got the 6 y/o a chocolate covered rice crispy treat. All in all it was a beautiful day, a little too hot at times in the direct sun. The kids had a great time and there was plenty to keep us adults occupied. The people watching is definitely unreal but really everyone is there to have fun so you really can't go wrong!
