I came to Meineke after someone at Auto Zone told me they do free AC tests. My AC was blowing cold air when my far was moving, but when I was stopped in traffic or at a stop light, the air would become blow hot. Not sure what they mean by the "free" test, because I was told they "looked" at the system and everything seemed fine. At this point, I was told they would need to extract the freon from my system and put new freon in to make sure there was no leak and make sure I wan't simply running low on the freon fluids. I was told it would cost $208.00 and should solve all my AC issues. I was frustrated with the price, but in Las Vegas, AC is necessary. 12 days later, I drove to California and the AC blew hot air the whole way! I called Meineke and explained my situation and was told I would have to AGAIN pay to have the feaon extracted from the system to put more dye in to see if there was a leak. I said no since they had just done exactly that and they would not help me any further. I ended up taking my car to a Firestone and they told me immediately that it was obvious that my compressor was leaking and needed to be replaced to ensure that I have cold air. They replaced it for me (quoted me $1150, but ended up giving me a deal at $950) and I have not had any issues since. I fell that Meineke was dishonest and I do not appreciate their business practices. If you have something wrong with your car, get multiple opinions before settling on having repairs completed and Meineke! Beware!
