Took my 1st CCW class 05-06-17. I literally started shooting hand guns a few weeks prior in preparation for this CCW class. I used my friends gun who was also enrolled. Turns out I am quite a marksman with a revolver and suck with a semiauto! Do a simple test to find your dominant eye. THEN CLOSE THE OTHER EYE WHILE AIMING & SHOOTING! You can rent a gun onsite if you don't own one. Can't put into words how relieved I was that John Berbirian was my instructor. You start off with the welcoming crew for your shooting test. I forgot my ear protection in my truck. Sweet attendant hands me a $200 set and says "Here, use ours, they're noise cancelling." I felt like part of SEAL team 6 going in for bin laden with those things on! Lane is assigned & target is ready for you. Instructed, then 6 shots at close range, firearm down pointed down range. Instructed, then 12 shots medium range, firearm down. Instructed 12 shots long range, firearm down. Then congratulated and promoted to classroom across the street! That's where you meet your new best friend John Berbirian. John Berbirian is to firearms what Stephen Hawking is to Quantum Theory. He really knows his firearms, laws and most importantly people. John is down to earth & reminded me of Jonah Hill in the movie War Dogs. You don't fall asleep in his class because he engages you with real life actual scenarios from personal stories, internet videos and news events. We were provided with state of the art facilities(check out the training room), pens, water, popcorn, excellent doughnuts, cold fountain drinks & plenty of opportunities for breaks and a 45min lunch break. There is a small, circle the correct answer test at the end that you simply can't fail unless you don't know how to write your own name. You then start your formal Sherriff application for CCW. John signs you off and you are ready to present your application to the Sheriff. When I left, I felt as if I have made friends for life with John and the nice people at Green Valley Range.
