We showed up (reluctantly) to magnolias for a work party. Three girls and three guys showed up in my group. The girls were allowed in, no problem. Each of the guys were denied entry, for reasons such as "their shoes were inappropriate." They weren't wearing flip flops or anything inappropriate... this place just arbitrarily picks and chooses its clientele. So while my husband was left outside, I ran in really quick to cash in my one free drink ticket and say hi to some work friends. Luckily he's a big kid and can fend for himself, otherwise I know some people who would have been real mad about this.
My vodka tonic was the size of a Dixie cup, essentially. I would not have paid for that crap. It's trying super hard to be some elite club experience, but really they look like pompous a-holes. I was in there for maybe a half hour and that was plenty long enough to decide I will never be back.
(Also... My husband + fellow guys made it over to the cornhole boards at coastal taco, by the way. We didn't have to deal with the stuffiness of magnolias and we actually had fun together)
