Pomelo has potential. The restaurant is secluded within a neighborhood and has a commune feel with its shared location with Luci's. The courtyard has a lot of greenery and would be a relaxing setting in cooler weather. The atmosphere in the restaurant is somewhat sterile. The design is simple and safe. With the acoustics and the amount of families, the volume was pretty loud. The vibe certainly seems more yoga mom than hipster. The staff seemed a little stiff and lacking personality, but there was nothing overtly negative to say about service. The food is what earns four stars. I had the beet salad and my husband had the crispy chicken sandwich. The portions are modest, but the cooking technique, freshness, and flavor all shine. All in all, give it a chance. At the very least, the food won't disappoint!
