Just based on the name, who doesn't want to spend at least one of their evenings at Dotty Dumplings?
Not only was the name intriguing, but the great reviews on Yelp and its proximity to our hotel made it an easy choice for dinner on our last night in. That, and we hadn't *quite* met our quota of cheese curds and these were allegedly a delicious option.
They are, in fact, a delicious option. So try them. But when you do, keep in mind that the portions of everything are GIGANTIC. We made the mistake of order two sides in addition to our entrees, and let's just say there were some pissed off starving children in Africa that night. Two people could easily eat the (delicious) chili cheese fries as an entire meal.
Bringing me, naturally, to the chili. Which had excellent flavor and spice. More importantly, the meat they use is obviously well cooked and a high quality--it's not your standard ground beef but rather a stew-type meat that falls apart in your mouth. You could put it on a grasshopper and I'd be willing to eat it. The burgers are juicy and delicious, and their caesar salad was huge, fresh, and really flavorful. Their beer list is, as in much of Madison, locally-based, quite large, and with a lot of delicious options.
The service was okay, and either our waitress was very forgetful or completely in the weeds. But at least she was friendly!
So even if you can't say the name five times fast (or even really remember where it is you're eating), you should probably wander over here at some point. But, beware, if you order as much as we did you're going to have some seriously ticked starving children to answer to.
