Went here with some friends and business associates from the NAB/New Media Expo show.
When kindly asking "Control" where NAB members should go, he told us to go to the expedited entrance in front... Which then promptly told us to find the longest line possible, and stand there. Ha!
Before I go on, I must say that I love almost everything Cirque du Soleil. They are, in general, some of the better performers and designers working today. So much fun. Especially Ka.
However, this is a very lame club by Vegas standards. 180 degrees away from Omnia, which was the previous night's club... (and totally off the hook!)
If Cirque actually still has much involvement in this club circa 2015, I would be shocked.
NO performances of any kind from cirque du soleil or anything like it. The highlight of the one and half hours we were there was seeing LEDs in $800 to $2400 bottles of Ciroq for bottle service. Whatever.
The place is basically just a giant box. No special design. Think a 3 level Costco turned nightclub. Uninspired.
NO special touches from "cirque du soleiI" --at all--. The sign is kinda cool, I guess, but most clubs have cool signs nowadays.
All members of our party tonight, except for a political consultant, were in the filming and television community and were basically nonplussed.
One commented that he wish Foxtail stayed open later, for god's sake! If you know how stoic and normal the Foxtail club, you know just how bad this comment is. It's a serious burn, although he didn't mean it that way. He just liked the friendlier vibe and how easy it was to be social there more. He actually spent far more money there on drinks, because the environment was more conducive to rounds with friends,
One member of my party was gay and commented that almost every gay club is better than this -- and many better. I can believe him, since (although I am straight) I used to frequent gay clubs with friends back in West Holywood. Just flat out fun places to dance without being harassed. He, too, loved Cirque and just didn't "get it".
RUDE security that grabs you and tells you you must move from unmarked, private bottle service only areas. It's not like we were taking anyone's seat or anything. Different setup than most clubs in that you can't even remotely be near the tables standing. There is absolutely no signage giving you any hint of what is what. You are supposed to "just know" things. Some sort of nightclub esp.
Furthermore, our party was big enough so we could've been upsold to bottle service. Split between us, the cost to us would've been negligible... but these asshats sure did leave a bad taste in our mouths, and didn't even mention the option.
No, they power trip and push around innocent people instead (many with good to great incomes). Great for patrons with low self esteem, I guess, but it was nobody's cup of tea I knew. Both normal and high end people tend to like being seduced to spend bigger money, like they do in the UK or certain LA and NY establisments, not jerked around.
The servers in the more private area (basically the whole second level) were extra pretty young ladies... Very capable of sales seduction, I am sure. I am certain one of them could've upsold our entire group much easier if she kindly told us about the rules and setup of the club.
Now that's doing sales right. A paying guest should never have any interactions with security unless they are doing something obviously wrong, or need help.
I am giving this an additional star only because the bartenders were the normal, good hearted Vegas kids who help make Vegas fun overall. Normal drinks like vodka are around $18 a pop, but the servers are nice enough. Not over the top or Cirque like, but just fine.
I wonder how much "The Light" (sic) spends per hour on dumbass "Control" personnel who end up down selling people... straight out of the club!
They are spending dollars to make pennies, compared to a properly run establishment. Talk about being penny wise, and pound foolish. Literally.
You want to visit a big time Vegas club that does it right, visit places like Omnia. You'll thank me for it.
And even my more conservative friend is right -- if you just wanna get a few drinks and mingle, maybe do some business, the Foxtail ain't half bad. I sure wish it was prettier, but I get his point. You can still talk and nobody is condescending. But if you wanna get crazy... Again... Omnia! Wow!!
