wow, I can't believe these people can still be in business! I will try to summarize my interactions... My 70yr old mother was hit by a progressive insured driver. Took her car to progressive to get it fixed. They then informed us the car would be totaled because to repair a trunk and bumper was more expensive then the vehicle was to replace. Surprised at the low valuation (and check offered), I ran my own comps and requested their reports. In their comps they willfully low-balled our vehicle by saying it didn't have AC, sunroof, CD player, power windows etc. ALL to get a lower valuation!! APPALLING! Talked to two other insurance providers and two auto body shop and ALL said that Progressive is notorious for being the biggest lowballers in the bisiness. Upon calling them out on the "oversight" they adjusted their numbers and ran new comps - only to have their mystery software give a LOWER number... I then supplied them with NADA valuations, KBB valuations, and EVERY single same make/model car that was being sold across the nation as comps (all for 30% more). And their response was "my comps didn't take into account individual markets and mileage. I am simply appalled at how horrible this company is - and even elevating it to supervisors, and the BBB produced no further results. They just hide behind the fact that their software is "state approved". Within 3 days of dropping off the vehicle Progressive forced us to return the rental car, threatened to have our car towed off their property, and sent us the settlement check because they didn't want to discuss it further. I really hope someone with more $$ then us takes these criminals to court.
