We just came home from here on a date night. What a lovely little place. We were here about 6 years ago when it was called 5000 Years but it's changed a lot.
We walked in and were sat in a cozy little area all to ourselves. Quickly ordered a couple of cold Saporos. Our shared appetizer was the vegetarian deep fried dumpling.....6 of them for $7.99. Totally worth it.
I ordered the seafood Yaki Udon hot bowl ($16.99), he ordered the Fish Katsu bento box ($16.99).
About mine.....the udon noodles were PERFECT.....fat, meaty and wonderful.
The seafood is unfortunately all frozen - salad shrimp is not a good choice for this bowl. The rest of the seafood (except for the clams) was very rubbery. All that said......the taste of the dish was really, really good. So, frozen food aside, I'd actually order it again.
About his......his fish was also frozen but you couldn't tell so easily as it is breaded and deep fried. The bento box is nothing to rave about but everything in it was well seasoned, nicely presented and tasty. It just seemed mostly empty, which is a shame. Would he order it again? Probably :-)
Miso soup is better than average.
The place is a teensy hidden little charming underground secret that you've probably walked by 100 times if you live in the area (we do, we walked around the corner to get there).
It's absolutely worth a shot.
There are obvious misses but it will still be a pleasant way to spend an evening, so do try it out. The service is warm and very professional, the little rooms are delightful. You should go!
