I tried a few Barre Mixed Level classes at the Queen Street location when they opened last year and loved them, but the location was just too far from me. Needless to say, I was so excited when I heard they were opening a midtown location in my area (Yonge/Eglinton), and checked them out on opening weekend. I took an introductory level class - BarreBasics - and had an amazing time. Marissa, the instructor, was so vibrant and full of energy you couldn't help but get excited about every move we did. The class itself, despite being a basic class, was still fast paced and challenging enough that you worked up a sweat and got a great workout, but had the added benefit of very specific instructions, examples, and help with each element, from wide-legged squats to lunges on the barre. The studio itself is clean and bright, though it's considerably smaller than the Queen Street location, but there's still enough room in the smaller studio for 18 people to take a class (mostly) comfortably. However, since the space is somewhat small there was no room for a spin studio for their SpinBarre classes. My only complaint is the price - it's not cheap at $21 per class - but it is comparable to many of the Yoga and Pilates studios in the city. They do offer discounts if you buy multiple classes, or you can get a membership. If you're new, you can take advantage of their newbie special, and your first class will only be $10. Despite the high pricetag, I'll definitely be back a number of times.
