I'm a fan of Fitzgerald's and so this place gets a slightly higher rating, but based on the reuben alone it would be a 1. It's a great place to drink and they do have some good food on the menu, but the reuben is not one of those things. I continued my reuben adventure around Charlotte with a place I thought would have a good reuben, an Irish spot. I was quite wrong. The corned beef was terrible - it was this rubbery substance that was clearly boiled, poorly, and didn't have any flavor at all. The sandwich was soggy as the standard marbled rye wasn't crisped up at all, and the kraut just didn't add much to the sandwich as it lacked the proper tartness required. The sandwich was covered in melted cheese, but that can only do so much to make up for the rest of a bad sandwich. Fitzgerald's is a good spot with decent food and a great atmosphere - just don't make the same mistake I did and order a reuben.
