I see that my wife has already left a review going into detail of our experience, and she gave much more of the benefit of the doubt than I would have. So all I will say is that while there was nothing in particular that ruined our weekend at the Palomar, I was more upset by just how resoundingly "ok" it all was. Maybe our standards were too high based on hotels we've been to in the past, but the whole thing was just so mediocre for what we paid and what we were expecting. And I probably would've forgiven all the little frustrations if someone had asked about our experience at some point. Just a little invitation to get our grievances off of my chest would've made me feel much better, but no one bothered checking in. Maybe it's petty, but it made a difference after everything else.
