I've been to Nikko's several times over the years, and have always had fun while enjoying the ambiance, the food and Nikko herself! That's right, most evenings Nikko is walking around in her black or white cowboy hat greeting (and sometimes dancing with) patrons and taking pictures.
As far as the food - if you love sushi this is probably a top 3 spot in CLT for sushi. They've got a loong sushi bar w/several chefs creating a variety of unique and classic sushi options. I usually run one or two of their daily sushi roll specials. They also have your classic hibachi/stir-fry/teriyaki-style selections served with steamed veggies and rice - try the salmon.
Service is usually straight here, although I wouldn't say spectacular. For example, they don't hide the fact that they are closing in 45min and want you to leave - hehe. Regardless of how busy they are, food always seems to come out in a timely manner and just as you ordered it.
My one complaint is sometimes this place lacks a bit of couth. I am all for a DJ on Friday & Saturday nights - but does it have to be so extremely loud you can't carry on a convo w/ the person next to you? If you are looking for a laid-back, quiet experience this is NOT the place.

The food is always exceptional. The service is good. The ambiance is modern, hip and trendy. I will def be back, but could you just turn the music down a bit though?
