Called to set up new doctor for my adult son with learning disabilities, low income, and a hernia the size of South America. Paige office scheduler said, "Sure we take his HMO plan." Once we were in the office, insurance card and paperwork submitted, my son saw a PA. When we checked out, the office staff suddenly says that Doctor Paige is not accepting my son's HMO plan. "But," I said, "you assured me you took this plan before I made this appointment." "Yes," she waffles, "we booked your son with a PA who is on the plan." Then the bad news, "Your son cannot get a referral to a surgeon since only a doctor can do that; The PA on your son's plan, can't make a referral." So now we have a bill and a hernia the size of Africa. This was a very bad first and last impression. We will be disputing the bill they sent for $195.00 for a useless visit. We have since gone to CIGNA HMO and they were amazing. The office evaluation, diagnosis, surgeon consultation, and bloodwork done in one location. The surgery was fantastic and all costs were in network.
