I live near Bakes & Goods and have bought these cupcakes many times. I have a niece who is having a party so I decided before I order these cupcakes I would go and try out some of the other top shop cupcakes listed in Toronto. I purchased 2 cupcakes each, vanilla and a chocolate from each establishment. OMG! If you like your cupcakes the consistancy to be like a muffin and the frosting a mile high then those places are for you. The frosting very granular, so when you bite into it, it's very gritty. It seems these places who promote their cookbooks and have downtown addresses are running a business. Thats all! Bakes & Goods cupcakes are so moist and the icing like velvet because its cooked icing. The shop is small, sweet, clean and has that real old fashioned feel. Also the owners are very nice and do the work themselves.
