My boyfriend got me a box of mini-cupcakes and assorted macarons as a surprise, which was great because I never buy cupcakes or macarons for myself! Even though I have a big sweet tooth, they're usually too rich/sugary for me. I had: 1) Vanilla cupcake; 2) Red velvet cupcake; 3) Coconut cupcake; 4) Pistachio macaron; 5) Nutella macaron; 6) Red velvet macaron These were all pleasantly *amazing*. I don't say that lightly because I've encountered soooo many bad cupcakes. Honestly my favourite part of the cupcake is the CAKE so if you get that wrong, what even are you doing?? The ones at Bake Sale have a delicious cakey base. I took several bites icing-less just to taste the cake, and the vanilla and red velvet flavours were great. My only gripe with them is the pile of icing on top. Maybe I'm just not a huge icing person, but I can't handle a big mound of icing so I just scrape off half of it. The macarons are really good: light and airy and very flavourful. Pistachio as always is my favourite. There are literally THREE locations all surrounding where I now live, so I predict many, many more trips back...
