Last week my ABS light came on and whenever I went to brake, there was shuttering in the engine. I had it towed to Kerry's because it didn't feel safe to drive. The guy from Kerry's implied they have free towing (they don't, I later paid $52). At about 1:30 pm they said the tow truck would be there in about an hour and a half, almost 7 hours later it shows up at 8 p.m. so I was already annoyed. Next day Kerry's calls me and says my brakes are bad and need resurfacing (which I'm automatically suspicious, I had brand new brakes installed less than a year before). They wanted $120 just for a diagnostic, another $220 for the brakes, and then they said I needed a new control arm for $400 in parts plus labor. How they were able to determine the control arm was causing the shutter without the $120 diagnostic I'm not sure. Anyways, it was all a bunch of BS. Took it to another shop which confirmed my brakes were fine, and it was actually a worn down motor mount causing the engine to shutter upon stopping. Kerry's diagnosis was wrong and wouldn't have fixed the problem because the motor mount still would have been bad. The total quote was over $1100 from Kerry's, I paid the other shop $325 and now the car is running great. I feel like Kerry's was trying to take advantage of the fact that I'm a female and don't know much about cars. I would not recommend this shop to my worst enemy. They act all nice and keep trying to say, "we're here for you, well try to get you out the door for the least money," well I call BS!!!! They have no interest in fixing things properly. Their prices are also extremely inflated. I can get new brakes at brake masters for about $100 less than what Kerry's would have charged.
