I like The Old Fashioned for its atmosphere-Its busy, the servers are friendly and you can catch some good local conversation as well as meet people who are traveling through Madison. My first visit was to just check it out and have a beer on the 4th of July. My second visit consisted of a beer and the Wisconsin Burger. Although the burgers are not huge, they are still pretty tasty. Buns are soft, buttered and fresh. Meat is thick and juicy-done just right to my medium well request. The fries are thin, which are not my favorite, but they were nice and hot. The place has about 150 beers on tap AND serves the traditional Midwest cocktail: The Old Fashioned. They mash theirs by hand here so if you want to get a little entertainment while the bartender serves up your drink, this is the place to be. The prices here are awesome too! $7.95 for my burger and $3 for the bottle of Miller Lite. I heard the cheese curds were off the hook. This is for sure my go-to spot when I am down around the Capital Square!!
