After reading Mike P.'s review of Blue Hen Falls, I dragged the boy out there on Monday to get some exercise. After driving crazily down windy country roads, we pulled into the parking lot, ran across the street, and started down the trail. The boy commented, "This doesn't seem like a difficult trail," and my response was, "Wait until we have to come back up." It was a pleasant downhill slope to the falls, where a strategically placed bench faced the waterfall. A few young boys were actually down in the water, splashing and only nominally heeding their father's warnings to be careful and not slip. There were plenty of mosquitos out in force as we headed back up the trail, and going back up certainly was more difficult than our trek down.
