We attended Spring Training starting last week and since the hotel that we have stayed at over the past five years raised their rates 75% on us we decided to move on and look for something more affordable. We have stayed at LQ Inn in the past and were pleased with our experience. I looked several months in advance and got a room rate of $108 per night for a King Suite compared to the $200 per night that our recent hotel were going to charge us and at a five night stay that would have not been cost effective. Our room was beautiful inside with lots of space in the separate bedroom with a door that led to the living quarters. Both rooms had flat screen TV's and the living space had a coffee pot, microwave, refrigerator and a sink. The couch was kind of narrow and not really comfortable but it did open up into a bed if you needed one for the kids or other guest. The hotel was undergoing some extreme renovations so we were patient and understanding. The breakfast in the morning was pretty basic, the coffee was really good but the only draw back was the dining area was super small and it did not accommodate the amount of people eating. I would hope in the renovation that it's going to be a bigger room. The staff are what made LQ a good experience, they were awesome from the check in, all during the week and at breakfast. They all seemed very friendly, they smiled a lot and always had something kind to say when you encountered them. The lady that worked the breakfast was all alone and she did and amazing job for having to do it all by herself. She always had fresh coffee for you and would take care of anything brought to her attention in a prompt manner. You could be someone who complains that they ran out of an item or praise this lady for refilling it quickly when you brought it to her attention. This was a good halfway point location for us to stay since we were attending games on both sides of the city. But, like any city, the weekdays were really tough getting around with insane traffic and what seemed like construction all over the city but we managed.
