I am Marriott Gold so I was upgraded to a top floor jacuzzi room. I travel a lot and spend a lot of nights in various hotels at different price points. Therefore, it is fair to say you expect different quality when staying at a Ritz or Four Seasons versus a budget chain. I set my expectations fairly high because Courtyard is at minimum a mid-level Marriott brand and the rates at his hotel are generally very high for a small city - usually $170 - $200/night + $20 for parking in a non downtown location.
Needless to say this hotel is quite the cash cow for the one percenters who own the property. It is too bad they then don't reinvest their large profit margin back into the hotel, because it could certainly use some investment. Most hotels have good sound proofing between rooms and this hotel does not, the noise from people talking in the room next door was non stop - I took several videos of the noise. In the end I had to pack up everything and move to a new room at midnight. This is due to poor construction - not loud people - and needs to be fixed.
The pillows are not comfortable at all and I requested new pillows at 2am. They finally sent them up 30 minutes later after I called the desk again. This shows very poor customer service. I didn't get a good night sleep here and the manager was nice to take half off the room rate and give me some points. Despite this I won't be coming back - I had a return stay booked that I have since cancelled after this visit. I would avoid this hotel until the owners fix the array of problems which exist in their cash cow.
