This definitely a place that revolves around drinks.
Vanguard is best classified as a 'mixologist' venue. Yeah you can get a Blue Moon on tap but whats the point? This is the place where you go to get some of those weird drinks nobody else has.
The place is super small, I mean really really small. When I first saw it I thought it was a part of Insert Coins. Its like a small hall way with a patio. This means it gets super packed. The crowd is a lil more sophisticated than the hipsters at the other east Fremont bars. Most are older, there is no DJ, no dance floor, just a place to have some drinks and catch up with a friend.
Its a perfect place to check out when its slow, you can talk to the bartender and figure out whats good. But if you come by on a busy night (first Friday or the weekends) good luck even getting a bartend to look at ya.
