We have always heard Scottsdale was a very nice suburb of Phoenix, so when we found a hotel room in Scottsdale at a small older hotel, we thought it was a great deal. Sadly, the hotel is also a residence for low income and college students so people were coming and going at all hours. Our hotel room was not cleaned, the linens were visibly stained (including blood stains), and the common areas were littered with trash. The "super continental" was actually a very bad example of a free continental breakfast, but it actually cost $3.70! Including for children! The worst part is that someone used a syringe in the parking lot next to our car overnight, which was discovered by our young son as he jumped in the back seat. When I brought this to the hotel attendant's attention, she refused to offer any consolation because I booked it online through Hotel.com. A funny thing was that the front desk was offering $20 off to anyone who went on a different website and gave the place a favorable review, so all these homeless dudes were coming in with sheets showing how favorably they rated the place just to get discounts.
