I have lived at Spectra for more than 6 months now, and am having a lot of problems, a few of which I am going to list here:
1. Trash pick-up: There is a mandatory fee of $25 per month for the "complementary" garbage pick-up. I wanted to opt out of it because the garbage cans are only a few steps from my apartment unit. I was told I cannot opt out.
2. Dog poops: I love dogs, but when you see dog poops almost ten steps apart, you start to doubt any policy is in place to prevent people from picking up after their dogs.
3. WORK ORDER WORK ORDER WORK ORDER: Like all apartments, I understand Spectra on 7th is prone to problems within units. However, it's when somethings like a flooded sink, and a dishwasher that doesn't drain do not get attended to (even after several requests) that you get frustrated with the management. I called several times over the two weeks to put the work order in place, and have often been told that I am next on the work order list. I keep being told that they are short-staffed and the limited number of service team has to attend to what are considered emergencies (these will be ordered ahead my work order). I wonder if they are considering hiring more people to keep up with prompt maintenance service. I have a few neighbors who share this complaint. Oh, and there's a shared grill in front of my apartment building that has been missing since December.
4. Cost: When we first moved in, the cost of our one-bedroom suite was just manageable. However, when we consider all the exasperating calls we have had to make to the office, and the level of service that is provided by the management in general, we do not feel like we are paying the "bang for the buck". I would not consider this a "luxurious" living as it is advertised online.
