Great place for a stroll, to watch the sunset, or to bike on the hills. Several components make up this area. Trees with plaques denoting what kind of trees & information about them are throughout. The Idea Garden is full of sensory plants. I enjoy stopping by & smelling the herbs or looking at all the varieties of roses. A pentagonal garden is usually filled with blooms on terraced sections. There is also the Japan House at the south end, where you can see cherry blossoms in season, sign up for a tea ceremony, or visit the Japanese gardens. This whole area is kept by the university. They ask that no one pick the plants, flowers, fruits, herbs, vegetables, etc and ask that dogs are kept from the experimental areas (and as always, please pick up after your dog) so that everyone can enjoy this place. The arboretum is a great way to enjoy a leisurely day. And even better: This place is free & open to the public!
