My buddy retired from the military. Where does one go to celebrate? Las Vegas right before July 4, of course! Rather than spend my day at the hotel pool in 110 degree heat, I went exploring. Having visited the museum in Albuquerque, NM dedicated to all things nuclear, I figured this would be a good choice. I was right. It isn't the largest museum, but I enjoyed going through it. There is quite a bit of reading. Perhaps not the best choice for small children, for that reason. There are a few mockups, which I enjoyed. A theater simulates the testing experience. One of the things that really struck me was the underground testing and the cables required to gather data. A cross section of all the cables looked like modern art. Very cute. One of the docents, a distinguished older woman, made me laugh. She pointed at a document on the wall and recounted what "actually happened." THAT is history.
