My group went to Thorn Creek last night for a wine and food paring and everything about the experience was amazing. First, the grounds...WOW! Dave, the owner, is a landscape architect. Each garden area had a path to another area to enjoy. The outside seating is fabulous. Dave uses repurposed pieces to accent his gardens, like a farm wagon for his fresh herb garden and logs from felled trees for decorative seats. In the tent, there was live music. The lights, the fire places, and the water features all added to the beauty. Next, the wines were quite nice. We enjoyed them all but liked the cabernet best. At each wine tasting, the waitress explained the wine and where they got the grapes. The server was friendly and helpful. She was also very flexible. The food was yummy. The menu theme is small plates, so the portions are meant to be appetizer sized. Finally, Dave Thorn, the owner, is fantastic. He spent at least 30 minutes at our table talking about the winery and his philosophies. I saw him taking the time to stop and talk to the other guests as well. I will certainly be going back to Thorncreek.
