While I'm generally an avowed indie movie buff, sometimes you just need to sit in couch like stadium seats while watching an IMAX 3-D movie and eating a pan pizza. In such circumstances, one theatre stands leaps and bounds above the rest - Scotiabank. While I find a lot of people still call it the Paramount, you don't need to worry so much about corporate branding when describing this self-proclaimed movie palace. With not one ounce of restraint the inside is decorated to seem as vast, cavernous and showy (read: gaudy) as humanly possible. Witness here the hologram siding as you glide up the impressive stories-tall escalator. Order from your choice of a good half-dozen fast food chain kiosks, including your standard concessions type stand and a VIP area for schmoozing and boozing. If you're going to go see a blockbuster movie, my thoughts are go big or go home. No one needs to sit in cramped theatre seats on a second-run showing of Harry Potter when you can head to the Scotia and see it in not only IMAX, but IMAX 3-D. I'm always impressed with the theatre's lineup of IMAX titles, usually at least one of the big films is available on the extra big screen.
