In April I had appointment with Dr. Deluca to remove a mole. The mole wasn't essential to remove but I wanted it done. I had previously seen Dr. Deluca for a regular skin exam. So I had been there before. After being taken back, the Dr. came in and told me that I would not be able to go into a pool for two weeks after this removal. I mentioned I had to be in one for my daughters swim lessons. So she wanted me to reschedule the appointment when it was a better time for me and I wouldn't be in a pool. As I left after being in the room for 5 minutes, I made an another appointment for July. As I walked out, the receptionist told me I didn't owe anything because I had to reschedule. Today, a month later I received a bill for $38.68. They had charged my insurance for my visit. I called about it and received a voicemail back saying that the Dr. decided to charge my insurance for my 5 min. appointment. Because it was an "office visit." This isn't right. The Dr. had the decision to charge me or not. But she did, for her 5 minutes of time. Yes it's an office visit but I had no idea that removing the mole would not be a good idea because of the pool. At no time during making the appointment did anyone advise me of what can't be done after this procedure. Maybe they should notify people ahead of time to avoid this situation? Maybe if she felt she HAD to charge my insurance, they could have shown good customer service by waving my remaining balance instead of charging me for 5 minutes. So for $38.68 I will not go back here, I'm cancelling my appointment and my daughters appointment. I'm not going to risk keeping an appointment that I show up for to be told I have to do another time and be charged for it.
